Design and characteristics of electric supercharger for diesel engine acceleration by additional rapid

YAO Chun-de, ZHOU Hong-xiu

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2006, Volume 1, Issue 4,   Pages 409-412 doi: 10.1007/s11465-006-0048-5

Abstract: The ES (electric supercharger) driven by a high-speed brushless motor was developed to solve the problem of smoke caused by the turbocharger s sluggish response during acceleration. Its rotation speed was from 6 000 r/min to 24 000 r/min, and the maximum flux was 0.1 kg/s. The structural design of the electric supercharger is novel, which makes it easier to set the lubricating installation and to assemble. The velocity distribution at the outlet of the electric supercharger is determined by hot-wire anemometry under various rotation speeds in steady state. Furthermore, the trends of the flux and charge rate with various speeds were analyzed. In addition, the transient response was detected from the motor setup to smooth running within 10 s, 15 s, 20 s and 25 s respectively, and the characteristic of the transient flux is under pilot study. Research results indicate that the electric supercharger can respond rapidly with the great flux, and it is independent of the operating conditions of a diesel engine. Therefore, it is a feasible way to reduce smoke emission and improve the acceleration performance.

Strategic position and development prospects of nuclear energy in China

SHEN Wenquan

Frontiers in Energy 2007, Volume 1, Issue 2,   Pages 125-128 doi: 10.1007/s11708-007-0015-9

Abstract: By analyzing the challenges of China s energy supply, an excellent perspective of nuclear power development in the country has been described. Taking into account the near-, mid-, and long-term development requirements, a comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable nuclear power program is proposed. Thus, our national nuclear industry can not only catch up with the world s advanced level in proper time, but also possess enough stamina for sustainability.

Climate change and China’s mega urban regions

Chaolin GU, Sunsheng HAN

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2010, Volume 4, Issue 4,   Pages 418-430 doi: 10.1007/s11709-010-0075-5

Abstract: China’s mega urban regions are focal points of economic development and environmental concerns. This paper positions four mega urban regions (i.e., the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, the Bohai Bay Area, and the South-eastern Fujian Province) along China’s coast into the national economy and elaborates their development challenges and planning innovations. Mega urban regions in China are spatial consequences of rapid economic transition. They deserve close scrutiny and demands for innovative planning responses in order to maintain their key role in driving economic growth but limiting their greenhouse gas emission.

Resource evaluation, position and distribution of tight sandstone gas in China

Zhang Guosheng ,Deng Songtao

Strategic Study of CAE 2012, Volume 14, Issue 6,   Pages 87-93

Abstract:

Based on the reservoir forming condition research of tight sandstone gas in Ordos Basin, Sichuan Basin and Tarim Basin, the authors give two types of tight sandstone gas reservoirs, sloped lithologic type and structural type which are the main of tight sandstone gas reservoir. The favorable gas region is predicted with multi-factor overlay method. And based on the existed tight sandstone gas reservoir analysis, the authors get the main parameters such as reservoir abundance, gas-bearing area coefficient which are necessary for gas resource calculation of the large basin through analogism method. According to the result of this resource evaluation, the tight sandstone gas geological recoverable resource in China is 9.2×1012~13.4×1012 m3 which is widely distributed over coal measure basins. The tight sandstone gas is the most realistic source in present. Due to the support of government policies and the motivation of technological progress, it might become one of the pillar sources in natural gas development in 10 to 20 years.
